Jerry Maffia is an experienced principal chemical engineer, university professor and department chair, industrial group manager and consultant. He is skilled in process design, decision and risk analysis, technology evaluation and industrial/academic education and training. His strong leadership and communication skills and comprehensive petrochemicals and light hydrocarbons knowledge help him provide practical advice, troubleshooting, process evaluation, and strategic planning to clients world-wide.
Jerry has a B. Chemical Engineering and M. Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College, Riverdale, NY, Doctor of Engineering from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. degree from New York University. He has 37 years experience in industry, academia and as a consultant. Jerry is Professor emeritus of Chemical Engineering at Widener University and Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at Drexel University. He has worked for Atlantic Richfield, ABB Lummus (ethylene group), and has consulted for over 50 clients world-wide.
He is the holder of 6 patents in olefins production, olefins conversion and bioprocessing and has worked on 6 continents. Jerry’s main research area is the production of collagen nanofibrils and associated applications.
